With a 16 million ILS investment, the state-of-the-art facility doubles passenger capacity and sets the stage for the return of global cruise lines to Israel's northern coastline

nternational maritime travel to the Holy Land is entering an exciting new chapter as Haifa Port officially inaugurates its brand-new, premier cruise terminal. Built with an investment of over 16 million NIS, the cutting-edge facility launched just in time for the official opening of the summer cruise season. This major infrastructure upgrade signals a confident step forward for Israel’s tourism sector, aiming to solidify the historic city of Haifa as the country’s primary and most luxurious maritime gateway for global travelers
The state-of-the-art terminal is specifically engineered to meet the highest international standards of modern cruising. It features the unique capability to seamlessly service two mega-cruise ships simultaneously, catering beautifully to both international travelers arriving to explore Israel and those embarking on round-trip Mediterranean voyages from Haifa. Once fully operational, the upgraded hub will boast a staggering capacity of up to one million passengers annually—effectively doubling the passenger traffic recorded during the country’s previous peak tourism years.
Every square meter of the new terminal has been meticulously designed to maximize comfort and streamline the boarding process for global tourists. The expansive facility introduces a spacious 600-square-meter duty-free shopping arena, a massive 1,300-square-meter security screening zone, and a sprawling 1,000-square-meter check-in hall. To eliminate long wait times, a newly optimized border control area spans 1,200 square meters and features 28 dedicated service stations, all backed by completely overhauled electrical and digital communications infrastructure.
Impressively, construction on this massive project continued steadily through recent regional challenges, demonstrating the port’s resilience and unwavering commitment to the future of Mediterranean travel. As the summer season kicks off, local favorite Mano Maritime is already set to operate a robust schedule out of the new terminal. Port officials are actively preparing for the gradual and highly anticipated return of the 30+ international cruise lines that regularly frequented Haifa’s shores prior to recent disruptions.
According to Capt. Sumit Chauhan, President of Haifa Port, this multi-million ILS expansion is a powerful vote of confidence in the enduring appeal of Israel’s northern region. Port executives emphasize that the standard-setting facility ensures global cruise lines will return to a world-class reception environment. For international tourists planning their next voyage, Haifa’s new terminal promises a smooth, sophisticated, and unforgettable welcome to the beautiful shores of Israel.
